When we are connected with our environment, we can better understand it; care for
and nurture it; and in turn, care for and nurture ourselves. It is good for our
body, mind, soul…and the Earth.
A study published in the Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences
finds the use of America's parks and forests may be down by as much as 25 percent
since 1987.
"Environmentally responsible behavior results from direct contact with the environment,"
the study authors wrote. "People must be exposed to natural areas as children if
they are to care about them as adults. Extended periods spent in natural areas,
as well as creating role models, seem to create the most environmentally responsible
behavior."1
Studies have shown that being out in nature is good for you physically, emotionally,
and psych- ologically. Keeping a balance in life can certainly result in greater
productivity and creativity in the workplace as well.
GreenNurture empowers you to find ways to reconnect with your natural environment
and to "start the conversation" with others within your organization.
