Recycling is the use of discarded or unwanted materials as the raw materials in
the manufacture of new products.

In 2004, Philip Morris USA recycled about 25 percent
of the total solid waste generated at their facilities. Through 2008, their recycling
increased to about 76 percent of all waste generated.

Recycling bottles, cans and paper are just a few areas where we can all work to
lower our impact on the environment. GreenNurture's eco-articles will educate participants
and help to stir up ideas on what else they can recycle at work.
Benefits of Recycling, as provided by the U.S. Enivronmental Protection Agency,
include:
- Recycling protects and expands U.S. manufacturing jobs and increases U.S. competitiveness.
- Recycling reduces the need for landfilling and incineration.
- Recycling prevents pollution caused by the manufacturing of products from virgin
materials.
- Recycling saves energy.
- Recycling decreases emissions of greenhouse gases that contribute to global climate
change.
- Recycling conserves natural resources such as timber, water, and minerals.
- Recycling helps sustain the environment for future generations.
GreenNurture empowers you to recycle common items - as well as those specific to
your workspace or workplace - and to "start the conversation" with others within
your organization.
