Reduce

Reduce should always be the first measure we take to make an environmental impact. By minimizing the use of materials during the design, manufacture, purchase or use of products, we reduce the waste stream. For example, you reduce waste by using products with minimal packaging, or using a non-toxic alternative that will do the same job.

Since 1977, the weight of 2-liter plastic soft drink bottles has been reduced from 68 grams each to 51 grams. That means that 250 million pounds of plastic per year has been kept out of the waste stream.1

Air emissions, energy usage, water/runoff, and consumption/waste are just a few areas where we can all work to reduce our impact on the environment. GreenNurture's eco-articles educate participants and help to stir up ideas on where they can start to reduce the waste stream at work.

Reducing waste can improve:

  • Production efficiency
  • Profits
  • Good neighbor image
  • Product quality
  • Environmental performance

GreenNurture empowers you to reduce your waste, impact, and consumption and to "start the conversation" with others within your organization.
