When we rethink the way we do things with the environment in mind, our attitudes
and behaviors toward the environment improve - we take ourselves from the awareness
about a problem, to seeking new information, to taking action to improve the way
we were doing things.
Human beings are capable of great things when they put their minds to an issue.
Great strides can be made in a small amount of time. Even a series of small strides
can lead to vast improvement. By harnessing the collective power of individuals
and asking them to "rethink" an attitude, a behavior, an action...environmental
progress will be made.
For example, over forty researchers in twelve countries asked 16-17 year old students
why each took environmentally unfriendly actions. While this example uses students,
these reasons are pretty universal and are good examples of attitudes and behaviors
that can be "rethought" and redirected toward environmentally friendly actions.
